We’ve had a truly blessed 2021 here at University Lutheran Church.
Spring semester 2021 was a different sort of semester. Most of the students had classes almost entirely online. Many stayed home instead of living in Champaign-Urbana. We still had a core group of students and attendees here who rejoiced together in the fellowship that we have in Christ Jesus.
Several dear brothers and sisters in Christ graduated and said goodbye. (Though, truth be told, 3 of the grads in this picture are still here for either more school or work!)
We had a great big UniLu get-together over the summer when two of our recent graduates, Justin and Maggie, were united in Holy Matrimony!
Another memorable summer event was the disassembly and removal of the old kitchen stove. While some disassembled, other helpers worked to convert the 2nd-floor classrooms into cozy study spaces. Based on photos, we think this was the original stove, circa the early 1950’s. It served (very) long and (very) well. It weighed in at 1,600 pounds at the metal recycler!
Fall Semester 2021 has been a bit more normal. Almost all students have returned to campus and we’ve enjoyed getting to know one another through all sorts of fun activities, meals, and the study and hearing of God’s Word together.
